3. Description of Services

EssayCompass generates sample essays, analyses, and writing inspiration based on the profile information and prompts you provide. Our output is intended as inspiration and a starting point only — it is not a finished application and is not guaranteed to be accurate, original, or suitable for submission. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use EssayCompass. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or school counselor. By using our services, you represent that you meet these requirements.

5. User Accounts and Registration

To access certain features, you must register for an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration

  • Maintain and promptly update your account information

  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

Group accounts may manage profiles and essays on behalf of the students (roster members) they add. If you operate a group account, you are responsible for having the appropriate authority and consent to manage those profiles.

6. Acceptable Use and Academic Integrity

EssayCompass is a study and brainstorming aid. You are responsible for using its output ethically and in accordance with the rules of any school or admissions body you apply to. You agree not to:

  • Submit generated content as your own original work where doing so violates an institution's rules

  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information in an application

  • Use our services for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, or violate any applicable laws

  • Infringe upon the rights of others or upload content you do not have the right to use

  • Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts

  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of our services, including automated scraping or abuse of generation credits

7. Content You Provide

You retain ownership of the profile facts, prompts, and other content you submit. You grant us a limited license to process that content in order to operate the service, including sending it to the AI model that generates your output. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and confirm you have the right to submit it.

8. Intellectual Property

Our platform, including its text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of EssayCompass and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Subject to these Terms, you may use the essays and analyses generated for your account for your personal, non-commercial application purposes.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Credits, Fees, and Payment

Essay generation uses credits, which you may purchase through our payment processor, Stripe. Each successful generation deducts credits from your balance. Prices and credit packages are shown at the time of purchase. Except where required by law, purchased credits are non-refundable and non-transferable. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time with reasonable notice.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that our services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that generated content will be accurate, original, plagiarism-free, or lead to any particular admissions outcome. We disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EssayCompass shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or admissions opportunities, whether incurred directly or indirectly, resulting from your use of our services.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EssayCompass, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of our services or violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to our services immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including but not limited to breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use our services will cease immediately.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
